This is really wonderful. I love that you have shown both sides, though of course I only agree with one of them. It's still nice to see the balance.

Mayday rally and march on Union Square

I originaly wanted to attend the Mayday Festival in Tomkins Square Park on the Eastside. When I got out of the train on Union Square I saw a whole bunch of people with transparents standing around waiting for the Mayday marchers to come.
An immigrant worker
Speakers included labor leaders, community organizers, immigrant workers, international solidarity activists, youth, veterans and military resisters.
A Anti War protestor in a discussion
After speeches ended heated discussions started with a small group of counter-demonstrators who called themselfes the "Protest Warriors". They want to "fight the left, doing it right" as stated on their website.

More photos and text in the extended entry.

The international workers day grew out of the struggle of working people more than 100 years ago for an 8 work day with a full day's pay. All over the world, working and poor people march on May Day to send the message that workers are united and have the right to a job, a living wage, health care, housing and education. Workers have a right to pensions and social security. Immigrant workers and the unemployed should have the same rights.

Heated discussions between the two partys

These photos where taken on May 1st while activists where marching and demonstrating to bring back this unity, this fighting spirit and to end the war in Iraq while a counter-demonstration took place organized by "Protest Warriors". The "Protest Warriors" want to "fight the left, doing it right" as stated on their website. They want to turn up their megaphones to fight for the supreme values of liberty and justice.
Heated discussions started between the two partys after the speeches.
